When skillfully written, thrillers can also carry the load of bigger themes than strict realism will allow. A lot of things work in this episode—the beginning certainly hooks you, the snow-bound setting of a ski lodge adds a nice flavor to the proceedings, and the mystery angle keeps you guessing as to the killer's identity with plenty of red herrings—but it does get quite silly at times, things often seem implausible, most characters are paper thin, and the performances are underwhelming.
